Magnesium levels
Recent studies have revealed magnesium to be an extremely beneficial nutrient for your heart! Those who lack the proper levels of magnesium in the body, may be more susceptible to higher blood pressure, higher risk of colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, and may even be at higher risk for suffering a heart attack. The study was conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina and closely evaluated adults who were instructed to take magnesium daily in comparison to those who were not. The study uncovered a correlation between magnesium deficiency and higher presence of C-reactive protein (CRP). Scientist found that more CRP lead to an increase in inflammation and as a result an increase in individual risk for heart disease. Subsequently so, they found that those who were not taking daily doses of magnesium were at risk for higher levels of CRP in the blood stream, whereas those who consumed daily levels of magnesium around 50mg or higher, were found to have significantly lower levels of CRP.
The study also revealed that lower levels of magnesium also put individuals at a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes. This is likely due to the fact that our bodies require proper and specific nutrients to best combat or prevent various illnesses and diseases unfortunately, almost half of the United States population, are not fueling their bodies with the proper daily nutrients needed to function.
