You may have heard buzz surrounding the negative implications on our health when consuming the GMO’s found in many of our foods. The truth is these preservatives, chemicals, and additives can be found in about 85% of store bought foods. While these foods are not created with the intention of making us sick they still can nonetheless. Some even believe these food to contribute to cancer risk, weight gain, food allergies, as well as digestive issues. The body can have a hard time processing these foods and as a result many negative implications can follow.
What to look for
Some of you may consume these foods more than others and many of you may even do so unknowingly. Often times the reason behind the unknowing consumption of these processed foods is due to lack of knowledge. Meaning you might not know that A) these foods contain these harmful additives and B) which ingredients to watch for. Believe it or not there do exist many health alternative and natural foods free or additives and preservative. The key is to know what to look for! You must know which ingredients to look for in order to avoid them as well as which ones to look for as a better options. While our last post highlights some of the ingredients you may want to avoid, we have compiled this one to help you know what to look for. When it comes to what to look for in labels from store bought healthier options we have:
- Simple ingredients(no artificial flavors or words difficult to pronounce)
- Organic foods
- Grass fed proteins
- NO GMO’s
- Whole foods
- Gluten free (if allergic)
